THE Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA) met with the visiting Russian Novosibirsk Tourist Board to promote tourism cooperation between Myanmar and Russia, according to the UMTA.
The meeting was held to explore mutually beneficial opportunities for the development of tourism between the two countries. It took place at the Lotte Hotel Yangon on the afternoon of 21 October.
The Myanmar team includes UMTA chair U Kyaw Bone Naing, UMTA executives, UMTA member Daw Dalia Win of Peacock Travel arranging Russian tours, and the executives from the affiliated Myanmar Tourism Marketing Association (MTM).
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the development of tourism cooperation between Myanmar and Russia, to attract more tourists and to increase the awareness of Russian citizens about the attractions in Myanmar.
In the current tourist season, foreign tourist arrivals to Myanmar include travellers from Russia, India, Nepal, Japan, Korea, China, Germany, Indonesia, Spain and Malaysia, according to the tourism circle. — MT/ZN
