THE Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA) met with the visiting Russian Novosibirsk Tourist Board to promote tourism cooperation between Myanmar and Rus­sia, according to the UMTA.

 

The meeting was held to explore mutually beneficial opportunities for the develop­ment of tourism between the two countries. It took place at the Lotte Hotel Yangon on the afternoon of 21 October.

 

The Myanmar team in­cludes UMTA chair U Kyaw Bone Naing, UMTA execu­tives, UMTA member Daw Dalia Win of Peacock Travel arranging Russian tours, and the executives from the affili­ated Myanmar Tourism Mar­keting Association (MTM).

 

During the meeting, the two parties discussed the development of tourism co­operation between Myanmar and Russia, to attract more tourists and to increase the awareness of Russian citi­zens about the attractions in Myanmar.

 

In the current tourist season, foreign tourist ar­rivals to Myanmar include travellers from Russia, India, Nepal, Japan, Korea, China, Germany, Indonesia, Spain and Malaysia, according to the tourism circle. — MT/ZN
