Under supervision of the Ille­gal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, the special task force managed by the Customs Department seized 70 Crys­tal One piece toilets and two commodities including 12,652.2 square metres China-made ce­ramic tiles (estimated value of K105.505 million) in 17 contain­ers which were not mentioned in ID forms at the Myanma Indus­trial Port. At the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint, the spe­cial task force also seized three kinds of commodities, includ­ing150 pieces of Linglong car tyres and 2,400 bags of Smart fragrance oil that did not have official documents (estimated value of K11.017 million) and two vehicles – Yutong Bus and Dong Feng Tractor Head (estimated value of K90 million) – which carried those commodities. Ac­tion is being taken in accord­ance with Customs rules and regulations.

 

On 8 March, Shan State Illegal Trade Eradication Spe­cial Task Force seized 53 kinds of commodities, including four BM Speakers and 620 packages of beverages (estimated value of K21.021 million) without offi­cial documents at the Sinphyu checkpoint in Muse.

 

Again, Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force nabbed 18 kinds of commodities (estimated value of K222.579 million), including 19,131 kilogrammes of small prawns, without official docu­ments at Thetkaw security out­post, Thanbyuzayet Township, from seven vehicles (estimate value K280 million).

 

Moreover, Kayin State Ille­gal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized three com­modities without official docu­ments including 150 bags of Bil­lions brand glue powder, 80 bags of Wonder Cat brand cat feed (estimated value of K4.95 mil­lion) at Thanlwin Bridge check­point, two kinds of commodities that were different from those mentioned in import declaration forms, including 12,000 pieces of Lactasoy and 2,400 bags of 108 detergents (estimated value of K11.8 million) near Kamawkasin Village, Hpa-an, and Hino Profia Truck (estimate value K35 mil­lion) that carried those items, 16,500 bottles of Lipovitan-D without official documents (estimate value K13.2 million) at a warehouse located in Bo Kya Thoke Street, Ward 6 in Myawady.

 

In addition, Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Spe­cial Task Force seized smug­gled goods four itmes without official documents, including 16,500 packages of Balloon Can­dy sweets and 2,740 packages of Thai-made peaches (estimat­ed value of K38.43 million), at a warehouse in Ward 23 in Dagon Myothit (South) Township.

 

Therefore, on 8 March, a total of 31 cases of smuggled goods (estimated value of more than K833.503 million) were seized, according to the steer­ing committee. — MNA/ TMT
