Some schools that were temporarily closed due to the floodwaters from the Irrawaddy River reopen on July 25 in Pwintbyu Township of Magawy Region as water level in the Irrawady River decreases, according to the Township Education officer’s office.
The closed schools are reopened as water level in the Irrawady River decreases and now, the students are attending the classes. A total of 30 schools were closed as water level in the Irrawady River has risen in Pwintby Township.
“Students from the closed schools will be compensated for the missed lessons and will be given additional times to study their lessons," said Daw Nyunt Nyunt Htay, education officer of Pwintbyu Township.
Some schools in Pwintbyu Township are reopened as water level in the Irrawady River recedes and the remaining schools will be reopened when the floodwaters decrease.—U Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Mye)
