The Agriculture Department, Con­sumer Affairs Department and Myan­mar Rice Federation jointly arranged a work coordination meeting at Min­gala Hall of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry on 16 August 2024 to discuss export procedures while rice and broken rice are sent to China.

 

The meeting highlighted inspec­tion tours in line with the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Protocol (SPS Proto­col), issuing pest-free certificates, standard operating procedures of rice mills and warehouses of rice export­ing companies in accordance with rules and regulations, occupational health and safety of mills, analyz­ing inventory list of the warehous­es and online registration process with the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC).

 

The Agriculture Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation called for Expressions of Interest from new companies that want to seek legal permits for rice export to China in the second week of July. Those companies were notified to submit EOI forms by 31 July.

 

The SPS protocol is a must in seeking registration with GACC for legitimate rice export to China. — NN/KK
