The International Buddha Peace Award 2024 ceremony, organized by the Maitry Peace Foundation, was held on 5 February at the Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi, India, and 83 those worthy of honour from the Myanmar and Indian communities were honoured with awards, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ceremony was opened by Myanmar Ambassador to India U Moe Kyaw Aung and Indian Deputy Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr Ramdas Athawale by lighting candles before giving their opening remarks.
At the ceremony, 83 people who are striving to excel in building peace as well as engaging in social welfare activities for the sake of humanitarian affairs and equal development efforts in line with the teachings of the Lord Buddha were awarded by the Myanmar Ambassador and Indian Deputy Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment. The Myanmar Embassy to India hosted a vegetarian dinner for the attendees. — ASH/TH
