Myanmar’s delegate joined the ASEAN–Korea Trade and Investment Roundtable 2024 dis­cussion held at Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul on 8 May, accord­ing to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

U Thant Sin, Myanmar Am­bassador to the Republic of Ko­rea, who assumes the alternate chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul, represented the nation at the meeting. At the meeting, he reflected on ASEAN and ROK’s 35 years of dialogue part­nership, highlighting the impor­tance of economic relationships in deepening bilateral friendship.

 

ASEAN is ROK’s second largest trade partner, whereas ROK stands as ASEAN’s fifth largest trade partner and sixth biggest investor, according to the 2022 figures. So, he looked forward to the implementation of policies for mutual benefits from the meeting.

 

The ASEAN-Korea Centre has convened the ASEAN-Korea Trade and Investment Roundta­ble jointly with the Korea Insti­tute for International Economic Policy four times, including this year. — ASH/NT
