Informative talk to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, which falls on June 26, was held at the Basic Education Middle School in Monghsu Township of southern Shan State at 10:00 am on 20 June.

At the event, the Township Police Chief Police Captain Moe Lwin discussed and detailed the advantages and disadvantages of narcotic drugs, offences and penalties for drug cases and preventive measures against the drugs. Then, an official from the Township Information and Public Relations Department explained the types of narcotic drugs and their side effects.

Afterwards, the students looked round the bulletin on the danger of drugs displayed at the school to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.—Than Lu (IPRD)
