To ensure the safety of teachers and students, 15 Basic Education Schools have been temporarily closed on July 29 due to floodwaters from Darka Creek in Kyonpyaw Township of Ayeyarwady Region, according to the Township Education Officer’s Office.
A total of 15 schools including two high schools, one Sub-high school, three middle schools, two post-Primary schools and seven primary schools have been temporarily closed as floods from Darka Creek in the Township.
Local people from 21 households in Pinlon Ward, 16 households in Innyekyun village tract and 28 households in Sarphyu Village in Kyonpyaw Township were evacuated to safer places due to floodwaters.
In addition, 10307 acres of paddy fields, 15 acres of tapioca fields and two acres of Banana fields in the Township were inundated on July 28 due to floodwaters from Darka Creek.—Township IPRD
