Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received Mr Mongkol Visitstump, Thai Ambassador to Myanmar, at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Both sides cordially ex­changed views on matters of preparations for the national census in Myanmar next Octo­ber, the security and transport conditions, the extension of the programme in some regions, Thailand’s support for Myan­mar’s census work, plans for Myanmar workers in Thailand to work legally, the status of identi­fying and assisting Thai nationals who are illegally present in My­anmar, the cooperation in legal entry and exit for citizens of the two countries at the borders, co­operation in immigration-related measures to effectively prevent from the people who engage in fraud through online games and human trafficking.

 

Deputy Minister U Htay Hlaing and Dr Myo Thant, Di­rector-General U Ye Tun Oo from the Immigration Department and officials were present at the meeting. — MNA/TS
