The 27th work coordination meeting was held at the Yangon Region High Court on 28 August to discuss the acceleration of court proceedings.
The meeting served as further clarification on the directives issued during the coordination meeting organized by the Union Supreme Court in Nay Pyi Taw, which took place on 19 and 20 August via video conferencing and was attended by the Chief Justices of the Region and State High Courts and the Advocates-General of the States and Regions.
In her clarification of the directive from the coordination meeting, Chief Justice Daw Sandar Thwe of the Yangon Region High Court explained that cases should be investigated and resolved promptly without delay, and effective punishments should be imposed on perpetrators of serious crimes. She encouraged the further development of the mediation settlement system led by the court, which resolves disputes in a short period and is crucial for the efficient and accurate completion of lawsuits. She also highlighted the importance of quickly tackling and deciding on cases to prevent the loss of evidence, addressing mistakes in office operations, and ensuring there are no weaknesses. Thorough investigations should be carried out to avoid damage caused by inadequate investigation, and employees must comply with the law and strictly follow the rules of conduct.
A total of 136 judicial officers attended the meeting, including the judges of the Yangon Region High Court, law officers from the Yangon Region Advocate-General’s Office, and judges and law officers from district and township courts. — TWA/TH
