Union Minister for Informa­tion U Maung Maung Ohn, in his capacity as chairman of Myanmar Libraries Devel­opment Cooperation, visited Magway University Library, together with Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin, and donated books and publi­cations yesterday.

 

The librarian first clari­fied the electronic library sys­tem and rental services.

 

The Union minister then observed the library com­pound and donated public science treatises for students.

 

The Union minister also met students from Magway’s universities/colleges.

 

The video clips of “Pre­vention of Toxic Media”, “Opening and closing events of 2024 Paris Olympics”, and “Opening of Paralympics Games Paris 2024” were screened.

 

In his speech, the Union minister said that unscru­pulous people intentionally spread fake news and false information using media to mislead the people. In other words, they conduct destruc­tive actions, poisoning the press.

 

Accurate information is required to consider the cur­rent situation of the country, and the youths should create their futures with specific am­bitions for their life improve­ment. They also need to read and understand the changes in the world.

 

He donated six DTH re­ceivers and 15 DVB-T2 set-top boxes for universities and col­leges. Then, Rector Dr Khin Maung Oo of Magway Univer­sity explained the university operations, and the faculty members read out research papers to develop the MSMEs.

 

The Union minister and party then headed to the Kan­tha Mingala Lake upgrading worksite, sales of MSME prod­ucts and night market on the strand road. — MNA/KTZH
