A ceremony to hail the Chinese traditional mooncake festival was held in conjunction with the China-Myanmar media meeting at the Chinese Culture Centre in Ahlon Township of Yangon Region yesterday, attended by Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar Ms Ma Jia.
The Chinese Ambassador highlighted her clarifications on the outcomes of Mr Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, on his tour of Myanmar, the morale of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and other notable measures.
The Ambassador reaffirmed that China strongly supports Myanmar for its independence, sovereignty, and existence of the country, as well as for safeguarding the region. She added that China also firmly stands for Myanmar’s activities on internal peace and stability, economic development, and efforts to improve the socioeconomic life of the people.
She continued that China strongly encourages Myanmar to initiate political reconciliation to implement democratization through the general election. China totally opposes the activities of internal instability and wars in Myanmar, foreign forces’ interference in the internal affairs of Myanmar, and any acts defaming China with attempts to instigate the China-Myanmar relations.
Moreover, she mentioned that the landscape in the international communication sector has not changed the concept that the Western Bloc is stronger than the Eastern Bloc. Developed countries are still controlling the leadership role of mouthpieces in the international arena. Additionally, the media is experiencing new challenges, such as fake news, misinformation, rumours, and one-sided opinions. She expressed her expectation, urging all China-Myanmar media to enhance friendly collaboration through united strength to amplify the voice of southern developing countries to the entire world.
The Chairman of Myanmar Press Council, those from Yangon Media Group, Skynet Media Group, Northern Myanmar Media, Insight Myanmar Media, Swemyo Pauk-Phaw Magazine and Xinhua, China Daily and CCTV News participated in discussions on the enhancement of media cooperation between the two countries, dissemination of accurate information between people from two countries, and development undertakings including education and agriculture sectors.
The meeting was also attended by Minister-Counsellor Dr Zheng Zhihong, officials from the Chinese Embassy, chief editors, editors, and reporters from more than 20 Chinese and Myanmar media outlets. — ASH/TTA
