A total of 21 countries invested US$2.2 billion in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, with further investment proposals an­ticipated from both domestic and international entrepreneurs.

 

The 21st CAEXPO is being held in Nan­ning, People’s Republic of China, from 24 to 28 September. Chairman U Yan Naing Tun of the Thilawa Special Economic Zone Management Committee, accompanied by committee member Yan­gon Region Economic Minister U Myo My­int Aung, officials from the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration DICA, and UMFCCI attended the event.

 

During the meeting with Chinese entre­preneurs, they discussed the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries, investment, trading and opportunities to invest in Myanmar and the Thilawa Special Economic Zone.

 

On 25 September, the Thilawa Special Economic Zone Management Committee chairman attended the Myanmar (Thanlyin) Promotion Conference, and he clarified to the Chinese entrepreneurs on the invest­ment opportunities at the Thilawa Special Economic Zone and other promising sectors to cooperate.

 

On 26 September, the committee chair­man and party met Chinese businesspeople and discussed investment-related matters and cooperation between the two coun­tries at the Myanmar Consulate-General in Nanning.
