A total of 27,000 acres of oilseeds and pulses will be planted in Paukkaung Township of Bago Region in this cold season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
Rice, ground nut, sesame, pulse and cotton are mainly being planted in cold season in the Township. In this year’s winter crops growing season, the Township authority earmarks to grow 27,000 acres of oilseeds and pulses including 4,454 acres of sesame, 5,719 acres of groundnut, 350 acres of sunflower and 10,965 acres of green gram and 6,143 acres of mung bean in the Township.
Now, efforts are being be made to meet the targeted areas. Farmers will be provided with necessary assistance by Department of Agriculture. In addition, farmers in Paukkaung Township has planned to cultivate cotton and varieties of vegetables in this year’s winter crops growing season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.—Than Tun Aung (IPRD)
