Myanmar is rich in cultural heritage, including traditions such as Thingyan, the use of Thanaka, traditional costumes, music, sports, and religious architecture. The preservation of conventional hairstyles is another vital aspect of Myanmar’s culture.

Tradition is a legacy to be cherished, not merely inherited. Only when it is deeply valued can its survival for future generations be ensured.

The children of Yepokgyi village in Pwintbyu Township have carried on the beautiful tradition of wearing traditional hairstyles for over 200 years. This unique cultural heritage is deeply cherished and passed down through generations.

The elegant and graceful traditional hairstyles of the young villagers, who have preserved these cultural practices, have gone viral on social media, attracting global attention and making Myanmar a popular destination for those interested in exploring its ancient traditions. These children represent ancient Myanmar traditions, which are rare and can only be found in three villages in Myanmar: Khansatkon village in Natogyi Township, Setsetyo village in NyaungU Township, Mandalay Region, and Yepokgyi village in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region. — Zeyar Htet (Minbu)/TRKM
