WITHIN the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone, weekly plastic cleanup activities are being carried out by the Bagan Plastic Campaign as part of efforts to maintain a plastic-free environment. At 7:00 am on 16 November, a plastic waste collection drive was conducted starting from Sakura Traffic Point.
In NyaungU Township, Mandalay Region, within the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone, efforts to achieve a plastic-free environment were undertaken by the Bagan Plastic Campaign Group in collaboration with staff from the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan Branch). Participants included municipal staff, personnel from the District Environmental Conservation Department, employees from hotels, motels, and guesthouses in NyaungU Township, staff from Balloons providers, members of the Tour Guides Association, members of the Restaurant Owners’ Association, and staff from the Hotelier Association (Bagan Zone).
The cleanup activity involved collecting plastic waste, such as discarded bottles and other debris, along both left and right sides of the road to Bagan Myothit from Sakura Junction to Sein Nyet Nyima Pagoda. — Dipa Linn/TMT
