The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation continues its efforts to combat illegal timber trade through various enforcement measures, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), in collaboration with local residents.

According to reports from the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, state and regional forest departments, a total of 120.07 tons of illegal timber were seized between 18 and 24 August. The confiscated timber includes 13.37 tons of teak,16.75 tons of hardwood, and 89.94tons of other types of wood.

As part of the crackdown, four vehicles and machinery used in illegal logging were seized, and 12 individuals were taken into custody in connection with the seizures.— MNA
