ACTING President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently in Beijing of the People’s Republic of China on his working visit, met staff and families of the Myanmar Embassy and the Office of the Military Attache to China, and scholarship students at the Myanmar Embassy at 5 pm Chinese standard time yesterday.

The Myanmar Ambassador and the Military Attache introduced staff families to the Acting President and Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar individually.

Speaking on the occasion, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar recounted that, at the invitation of Mr Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO Summit 2025 Plus) and the military parade commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Attending such international ceremonies brings positive benefits for Myanmar.

During the working visit, he retold that he held discussions with the President of the People’s Republic of China, the Prime Minister of India, and the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. These talks produced good results. Myanmar’s relations with neighbouring countries are developing positively, and likewise, cooperation with ASEAN member states is also being strengthened.

In practising democracy, he underscored that internal peace is indispensable. As soldiers are part of the people and Tatmadaw is part of the State, the Tatmadaw is striving to firmly uphold the people’s aspirations for a multiparty democratic system.

He explained that the government is making preparations to hold elections in December. Efforts are being made to ensure that all eligible voters can cast their votes. The elections will be conducted in stages, based on local peace and stability. To ensure there are no errors in the voter lists, the elections will be carried out using the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM).

Regarding the economy, he underlined that only by improving domestic production can the nation’s economy progress. Likewise, only if each and every individual works can the State economy improve. To achieve this, it is necessary to have sufficient human resources with quality education. Only when the education sector advances will knowledge and skills develop further.

He stressed that all citizens living within the country have responsibilities for national development. Just as diplomats serve to strengthen bilateral relations, students studying abroad also have a duty to contribute to the interests of the State. Therefore, everyone must work together as much as possible for the progress and development of Myanmar, he noted.

The Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar presented foodstuffs and cash awards to the ambassador and his wife, the military attache and his wife, families and students.

After the meeting, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar cordially greeted the families of the embassy and the office of the military attache.

The meeting was also attended by Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Commission member and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Commission member and Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Kyaw Swa Lin, and officials. — MNA/TTA
