AN association for durian growers and exporters has been successfully formed in Taninthayi Region, according to the Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producer and Exporter Association (MFVP).

 

At the inauguration cer­emony held on 5 September, more than 80 farmers from the four districts of Taninthayi Re­gion attended, and an associ­ation was established with 21 executive members. The asso­ciation aims to provide market information and help develop a robust market.

 

Under the leadership of the MFVP, the Myanmar Du­rian Growers and Exporters Association (Taninthayi Re­gion) was formed, and simi­lar organizations have been established in Yangon, Bago, and Ayeyawady regions, and Kayin, and Mon states.

 

In the 2024-2025 financial year, Taninthayi cultivated 10,543 acres of durians, 10,211 of which have reached the harvesting stage. The average yield per acre in Taninthayi Re­gion is 4,457 durians. — MT/ZN
