XINHUA News Agency and academic researchers released a report on the Eastern Front of the Second World War in Beijing on 5 September, under the theme of remembering history and upholding justice.

 

The report highlighted the sacrifices and contributions of the Chinese people in resisting aggression, noting their sig­nificant role in the global fight against fascism. It was published in both Chinese and English by the Xinhua Institute under Xinhua News Agency.

 

Speaking at the event, Mr Qu Qing­shan, Chair of the Party History and Liter­ature Research Centre of the Communist Party of China, said: “The spirit of resist­ance remains as important today as it was in the past and continues to resonate deeply with the Chinese people.

 

Experts also discussed the hardships faced by countries on the Eastern Front, including China, Myanmar, and Malaysia, during the Second World War.

 

Mr Fu Hua, President of Xinhua News Agency, stated that a proper under­standing of wartime history is essential to building lasting global peace. The cer­emony was chaired by Mr Lyu Yansong, Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency, and attended by scholars from Eastern Front countries. — Khin Yadana/KZL
