THE Steering Committee on the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agree­ment (NCA) held a coordination meeting yesterday afternoon in the Grand Ballroom of the Min­galar Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

Since the signing of the NCA, its anniversaries have been celebrated annually, and the upcoming 10th anniversa­ry on 15 October 2025 will be marked in Nay Pyi Taw with grand political essence along­side a commemorative work­shop.

 

The meeting was attended by Steering Committee Chair­man Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Vice-Chairman Un­ion Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Secre­tary of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee Lt-Gen Min Naing, and other committee members, including deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, direc­tors-general, and responsible officials from Union ministries.

 

In his opening remarks, Steering Committee Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae emphasized the importance of the NCA for peace, noting that the event will provide an opportunity for par­ticipants, stakeholders, experts, and attendees from various sec­tors to share their views, expe­riences, and lessons learned on the peace process over the past 10 years. He also addressed the organization of the NCA 10th an­niversary in a meaningful way, including the formation of work committees and discussions on their responsibilities, as well as the participation of relevant min­istries in exhibitions showcasing development activities in ethnic and border areas.

 

Next, Steering Committee Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing outlined the status of prepara­tions for the NCA 10th Anniver­sary Celebration, after which deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, and directors-gen­eral from various ministries discussed sector-specific tasks, while attendees offered sugges­tions and deliberated on neces­sary actions.

 

Afterwards, Union Minis­ter U Maung Maung Ohn, Vice Chairman of the committee, discussed the importance of youth and the peace sector, the country’s current development, the significance of the NCA cer­emony, and the requirements for organizing it.

 

Afterwards, Committee Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae de­livered the closing speech and formally concluded the meeting.

 

The 10th NCA anniversary celebration and workshop will be held under the theme “The NCA will shape the future with sustainable peace,” focusing on “Identifying the peace process that must be continued to build a peaceful and prosperous future for Myanmar”. — MNA/TH
