WITH businesses embracing solar energy, domestic solar sales are robust and significantly growing in the Yangon market.
Earlier, solar for households was primarily installed. At present, many businesses such as workshops, factories, hospitals, and mini-markets are moving towards solar energy.
“The commercial solar installation is significantly increasing. Solar panels with high efficiency are systematically installed for commercial use beyond solar lights. The demand is spiking. Traders are managing inventory amid supply chain disruption,” said a representative of a solar panel shop in Dagon Myothit (North) Township, Yangon Region.
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are linking with bank instalments to equip their businesses with solar power. MSMEs mostly install solar panels to generate five kilowatts to one megawatt. — ASH/KK
