THE Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister and Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo, attended the signing ceremony of the Sanur Bali Declaration on the establishment of the ASEAN Prosecutors/ Attorneys-General Meeting (APAGM) held on 15-16 September in Bali, Indonesia.
The prosecutors-general from ten ASEAN member states, the deputy ASEAN secretary-general, and relevant officials attended the event.
Speaking at the event, the Union minister highlighted the intentions of the establishment of APAGM to enhance prosecutorial cooperation in accordance with the law of the respective countries, support the international legal cooperation, improve the capacity of government legal officials of ASEAN countries, collaboration in capacity-building for government legal officials to address unconventional crimes and technology-based crimes, provide support and foster cooperation with the ASEAN ministers of different sectors regarding law enforcement-related matters and implement certain issues related to the exchange of legal frameworks and law enforcement practices among ASEAN member states, saying the signing of declaration opened a new chapter in ASEAN legal cooperation.
The prosecutors-general of ASEAN member states signed the Sanur Bali Declaration.
The APAGM can boost international legal cooperation, capacity building, and information-sharing among ASEAN prosecutors. — MNA/KTZH
