UNION Minister for Ho-tels and Tourism U Ohn Maung visited the Yan-gon International Airport, a de-partmental building in Kyauktada Township, the Myanmar Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, and attended the opening ceremony of the Yangon Weekend Market in Pansodan Township yesterday.

 


The Union Minister and his entourage first visited the inter-national  airport  and  observed  international travelers entering the  arrivals  hall,  the  visa-on-ar-rival services at the airport, and the  operation  of  the  News  and  Information  Counter  managed  by his ministry.

 


The Union Minister respond-ed  to  reports  from  relevant  de-partments and gave instructions, asking them to perform their du-ties responsibly.

 


Next,  the  Union  Minister  visited  a  building  owned  by  his  ministry on the Sule Pagoda Road in Kyauktada Township. He gave instructions  on  preserving  the  building and using it for develop-ing the tourism business.

 


From there, the Union Min-ister headed to the Myanmar In-stitute of Tourism and Hospitality on  Bo  Soon  Pat  Road  in  Pabe-dan Township. He observed the classes on hospitality in session, practical and theoretical classes, and the ongoing renovation work at the building. The institute was jointly opened by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Luxem-burg Development.

 


The Union Minister also met with officials from Golden TMH Telecom Co. Ltd at the institute. He discussed setting up a high-speed internet connection at the institute,  launching  classes  on  developing  the  ICT  sector,  and  ways to promote the travel sector.

 


Next,  he  inspected  a  tour  guide training school opened by his ministry.

 


In  the  evening,  the  Union  Minister  gave  a  speech  at  the  opening ceremony of the Yangon Weekend Market – Pansodan, lo-cated between Pansodan Street and Bank Street. The market will be open every weekend.
