A water distribution pipe from Kanthaya Dam was inaugurat-ed at Kanthaya Village in Gwa Township yesterday, with an address delivered by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu.
The facility was jointly built by Rakhine State Government and UNDP-Myanmar with the aid provided by the Japanese government.
Japanese Embassy Coun-cilor in Myanmar Mr Kazuyuki Takimi and Peter Batchelor, UNDP Resident Represent-ative for Myanmar, also gave speeches.
Techno Roys Engineering Co., Ltd transferred the water distribution facility to Rural Road Development Department.
Then the Chief Minister and his cabinet members and donors formally launched the water distribution system, which supply potable water to a station hospital and four villages from the dam.
Rakhine State Chief Minis-ter U Nyi Pu formally opened a village-to-village road in Taun-gup Township, Rakhine State, on 4 May.
The 3.5-mile long and 20 feet wide earth road was jointly built by Rakhine State Government and UNDP-Myanmar with the aid provided by the Japanese government. The Chief Minister also met with local people after the road opening ceremony.
At the ceremomy the Chief Minister, Japanese Embas-sy Councilor in Myanmar Mr Kazuyuki Takimi and Peter Batchelor, UNDP Resident Rep-resentative for Myanmar, gave speeches.
Then Khaing Yaza Tun Com-pany transferred the documents to Rural Road Development De-partment.
In the morning, the Chief Minister met local people at Gwaychaung village monastery in Thandwe Township. The town-ship administrator explained the regional development undertak-ings in detail. Locals presented requirements for regional devel-opment. Officials fulfilled the re-quirements through coordinated efforts.
The Rakhine State govern-ment presented K 5 million for Gwaychaung Dam and K 1 mil-lion for the village library respec-tively. —MNA
