THE Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development held a ceremony to transfer Village Development Project (VDP) funds to four villages that will implement development projects yesterday in Myinka Village, Kalaw Township.
Head of the Kalaw District Department of Rural Development U Aung Zaw Lin and Shan State Hluttaw Representative U Khun Tun Nge first delivered remarks.
Head of the Kalaw Township Department of Rural Development U Ko Ko Naing then explained the objectives of transferring the Village Development Project (VDP) fund and procedures to be carried out.
The District DRD Head, the State Hluttaw Representative and departmental officials handed over K15 million per village, totalling K60 million, to committee members from the four villages. Village-tract administrators and chairpersons of the village development committees received the funds on behalf of their respective villages.
Each of the four villages will use the K15 million VDP fund together with public contributions to implement selected development works. Villagers themselves will carry out the projects with technical assistance and close supervision from DRD staff. — Cho Than Nyunt (Rural)
