THE Department of Ru­ral Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development held a ceremony to trans­fer Village Development Project (VDP) funds to four villages that will im­plement development pro­jects yesterday in Myinka Village, Kalaw Township.

Head of the Kalaw District Department of Ru­ral Development U Aung Zaw Lin and Shan State Hluttaw Representative U Khun Tun Nge first deliv­ered remarks.

 

Head of the Kalaw Township Department of Rural Development U Ko Ko Naing then explained the objectives of transfer­ring the Village Develop­ment Project (VDP) fund and procedures to be car­ried out.

 

The District DRD Head, the State Hluttaw Representative and de­partmental officials hand­ed over K15 million per vil­lage, totalling K60 million, to committee members from the four villages. Vil­lage-tract administrators and chairpersons of the village development com­mittees received the funds on behalf of their respec­tive villages.

 

Each of the four villag­es will use the K15 million VDP fund together with public contributions to implement selected devel­opment works. Villagers themselves will carry out the projects with technical assistance and close su­pervision from DRD staff. — Cho Than Nyunt (Rural)
