ATHLETES from Myanmar’s winning para-athletics team were honoured at Don Mueang Airport with donations in Thai baht sent by U Aung Ko Win, chairman of KBZ Bank, and his family, sources said.
Myanmar competed in 11 sporting disciplines and won a total of 59 medals at the XIII ASEAN Para Games, held from 20 to 26 January 2026 in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The medal haul included 20 golds, 19 silvers and 20 bronzes.
For each gold medal (individual or team), THB100,000 was awarded; for each silver medal, THB50,000; and for each bronze medal, THB30,000. The prizes were presented by Ambassador U Zaw Zaw Soe, Brig-Gen Win Thu Lin and Minister counsellor U Soe Thu Hein, respectively. The total prize for the 20 gold, 19 silver and 20 bronze medals amounted to THB3.55 million, which was handed over at Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport.
At the XIII South-East Asian Games held last December, Myanmar athletes received THB900,000 for three gold medals in traditional Chinlone and billiards events, bringing the total donation from the KBZ Bank chairman and his family to THB4.45 million. — MNA/KZL
