ATHLETES from Myanmar’s winning para-athletics team were honoured at Don Mueang Airport with donations in Thai baht sent by U Aung Ko Win, chairman of KBZ Bank, and his family, sources said.

 

Myanmar competed in 11 sporting disciplines and won a total of 59 medals at the XIII ASEAN Para Games, held from 20 to 26 January 2026 in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, Thai­land. The medal haul included 20 golds, 19 silvers and 20 bronzes.

 

For each gold medal (indi­vidual or team), THB100,000 was awarded; for each silver medal, THB50,000; and for each bronze medal, THB30,000. The prizes were presented by Ambassador U Zaw Zaw Soe, Brig-Gen Win Thu Lin and Minister counsellor U Soe Thu Hein, respectively. The total prize for the 20 gold, 19 silver and 20 bronze medals amounted to THB3.55 million, which was handed over at Bang­kok’s Don Mueang Airport.

 

At the XIII South-East Asian Games held last Decem­ber, Myanmar athletes received THB900,000 for three gold med­als in traditional Chinlone and billiards events, bringing the total donation from the KBZ Bank chairman and his family to THB4.45 million. — MNA/KZL
