Two people were confirmed dead on Wednesday as heavy rains pounded southwest Japan, prompting flood and landslide warnings, and orders for 670,000 people to seek safety.
No reports of damages or casualties were reported following a moderate earthquake which was recorded at 9:54 am today, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
Japan was bracing Wednesday for a severe tropical storm expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds during the peak holiday period, with dozens of flights and bullet train services cancelled.
