Myitkyina, 20 October

No casualties were reported in a fire in Myitkyina, the capital city of Kachin State yesterday evening.

The fire broke out while diesel and gasoline were being transferred from an oil tanker to a barrel on a three wheel motorcycle in the compound of a house belonging to U Tan Gun (alias) Ar Tan in Tatkon Ward, Myitkyina at around 3:40 p.m. on 19 October. Local firefighters together with residents took about 40 minutes to completely put out the blaze by using six fire engines and three water tankers.

The flame engulfed about 500 gallons of gasoline and a six-wheeled truck but no one was injured in the incident. Local police filed a charge against the owner of the house.
