According to U Aye Kyu Lay, vice-chairper­son of the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organiza­tion (MMPO), the organization donated K500,000 towards the comprehensive renovation of the Shwedagon Pagoda on behalf of the late Ywasa Sein Tin Han, the leader and conductor of a Myanmar ensemble, on 5 February.

 

Ywasa Sein Tin Han was born to puppet actor U Phoe Thit and puppet actress Daw Mya Hmone on 11 July, 1932, in Soonlun village, Myingyan township, Mandalay Region. He relo­cated to Mandalay in 1942 and studied the art of Myanmar orchestra, eventually leading the or­chestra of Alinka Kyawswa Sein Baydar in 1954.

 

He married Daw Sein Tin in 1961. He was known for his cultural articles, musical com­positions, and contributions of short stories to magazines. He also penned the famous Myan­mar song “Htanywet Badee”. He passed away on 17 May 2004. — ASH/ TRKM
