DURING the Tazaungdine Festival, over 100,000 visitors came to the Taungthaman Bridge and Taungthaman Lake in Mandalay Region, according to Secretary U Soe Win of the Taungthaman Bridge Maintenance Committee.
“This year saw even larger crowds compared to previous years. A plain called Taungthaman Meze has developed into a small resort area, attracting many visitors seeking relaxation. During the festival, daily visitor numbers exceeded 50,000, and on the full moon day of Tazaungmone, over 100,000 people came,” said U Soe Win.
Taungthaman Bridge and Taungthaman Lake are among the most popular tourist attractions in Mandalay Region, drawing both local and international travellers. Domestic tourists primarily come from cities such as Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Taunggyi, and Yangon, while international visitors mainly include tourists from Thailand, Vietnam, and South Korea. — ASH/TMT
