AT the 550-bed Yangon Children’s Hospital, paediatric cardiologists are currently performing complex open-heart surgeries to treat congenital heart diseases, as well as providing non-surgical treatments using specialized cardiac catheterization lab equipment. Moreover, treatments are being carried out in collaboration with international paediatric cardiology experts and special medical teams.
From 3 to 4 July 2025, Dr Do Nguyen Tin, a paediatric cardiologist from Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City, Children’s Hospital 1, collaborated with the specialists led by Professor Dr Khin Maung Oo and performed surgical operations for 17 children with congenital heart disease at cardiac catherization lab using the devices, medicines and medical supplies provided by the Ministry of Health.
The children who received treatment were brought back for follow-up care and an echo examination on 22-23 July 2025. According to the results of these evaluations, the condition of the paediatric patients was found to be good.
At the 550-bed Children’s Hospital, Yangon, 496 patients were treated with cardiac catherization procedures and 488 patients with non-surgical treatments from February 2021 to 24 July 2025. — MNA/KTZH
