Kamarmaung, 1 August

Well-wishers donated essential food supplies to flood victims currently sheltering in relief camps in Kamarmaung Town, Hpapun District, Kayin State. The aid comes in response to ongoing heavy rainfall and the rising water levels of the Thanlwin River.

As a result of the flooding, several homes and basic education schools in the area have been temporarily closed. A total of 905 residents—410 men and 495 women—have been relocated to designated relief camps established at B.E.H.S.-3, B.E.P.S.-5, and Kawkare B.E.P.S. Local health officials from the Public Health Department are on-site, providing necessary medical care and offering words of encouragement to those affected.

The donation event was attended by Colonel Kyaw Htein and members of the Tatmadaw from local military station, the Deputy Administrator of Hpapun District, the Administrator of Hpapun Township and Administrator of Kamarmaung town, members of the Fire Services Department, and local social organizations.— Kamarmaung (IPRD)
