THE Ministry of Transport and Communications held an award ceremony yesterday morning to honour children of ministry staff who have excelled in scholarship programmes and in the 2024–2025 matriculation examinations. The event took place at Office No 2 of the ministry.

Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo, deputy ministers, officials from various departments under the ministry, and award recipients, including students and their parents, attended the ceremony.

In his speech, the Union minister said that the education of children of ministry staff who achieved outstanding results in the 2024-2025 matriculation examinations is the foundation for nation-building. He emphasized that only through the emergence of skilled, knowledgeable, and talented individuals can the country achieve sustainable development. He encouraged students to pursue higher-level academic disciplines and strive to become outstanding youth who can contribute effectively to the nation’s future.

The Union minister and deputy ministers also presented school supplies to children of staff attending basic education schools and awarded prizes to those students who excelled in the university entrance examinations. One of the outstanding students expressed gratitude on behalf of the awardees.

At the ceremony, the Ministry of Transport and Communications also provided school stationery and exercise books to 15,725 children of ministry staff studying at the basic education level. Also, 161 students who achieved honours in various subjects were recognized and given certificates of honour and cash awards. Among them were five students with distinctions in four subjects, five with distinctions in five subjects, 11 with distinctions in four subjects, 43 with distinctions in three subjects, 34 with distinctions in two subjects, and 64 with distinctions in one subject. — MNA/KZL
