Kawthoung, 14 August

Officials from the Kawthoung District Rural Development Department conducted a field visit this morning to inspect the completion of a rural water supply project aimed at providing residents with reliable access to clean drinking water in Bankhwan Village, Kawthoung Kone Township, Tanintharyi Region.

During the visit, District Department Chief Daw Sandar Win, Township Chief Daw Mya Yam Mon Phu, and other officials inspected the completed 6-inch wide, 25-foot deep hand-dug well and related infrastructure in the village. They also met with members of the village water supply committee, emphasizing the importance of quality construction and long-term maintenance, and discussed additional needs raised by the community.

The project in Bankhwan Village was implemented using a Ks. 150 million budget from the Union Government for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. Construction began in the first week of June with collaboration between engineering staff from the district and township departments, and local villagers.

All construction works have now been completed, and residents are receiving a steady supply of clean drinking water.— Thaw Zin Tun (DRD)
