THE Township Committee on the Rights of the Child in Thaegon, Nattalin District, Bago Region, organized an awareness session on children’s rights and ethical conduct at 9 am on 14 August. The event was held at the “Knowledge Treasure” Hall of Basic Education High School (Padigon).
The opening remarks were delivered by U Yin Htway, Chairperson of the Thaegon Township Committee on the Rights of the Child and Township Administrator. Following this, Daw Moe Moe Aye, Head of the Pyay District Department of Social Welfare, and Daw Wint Thiri Paing, Social Welfare Staff 3, spoke on topics including the four categories of child protection rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the meaning of human rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the objectives of child rights, the basic rights to which every child is entitled, ethics for children, and the rights of children with disabilities.
Later, Daw Wint Nandar Htay, Staff Officer from the Department of Public Relations and Information, gave an awareness talk under the theme “Ethics as a Human Value for the Development of the Five Strengths”.
After the talks, students had the opportunity to ask questions, which the officials answered in detail. Gifts were presented to students who took part in the question-and-answer session. — Maung Shwe Win (Pyay)/KZL
