During the visit to Anning, China, to attend the 10^th Mekong-Lancang Co­operation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and related meeting, U Than Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar met Mr Maris Sangiampongsa, Min­ister of Foreign Affairs of Thai­land yesterday and Mr Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China on the same day, re­spectively.

At the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, both sides updated the recent developments in their respective countries and exchanged views on strengthen­ing cooperation in border affairs.

During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, the two sides discussed matters related to bilateral rela­tions and cooperation. The Union Minister also apprised his Chi­nese counterpart of the prepara­tions for the upcoming election in Myanmar. In response, the Chi­nese Foreign Minister expressed the full support of China for the holding of the election and polit­ical development in Myanmar. — MNA
