Einme, 15 August

A fire caused by an overheated high-voltage transformer destroyed four houses around 2:20 a.m. on 15 August near the MOB Bank on Mya Khwa Nyo Road, Upper Ward, Einme Township, Ayeyarwady Region.

The blaze originated from a voltage booster left running at the home of Daw Cho Cho San, 68, and quickly spread to nearby wooden structures. Fire crews and local authorities responded promptly, extinguishing the fire by 2:35 a.m. with the use of two water tankers.

In total, one residential and non-three residential houses were lost, with an estimated damage of Ks. 18.0 million. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Authorities have arrested the homeowner for negligence under Section 285 of the Penal Code. The remaining residents have been temporarily relocated to relatives’ homes.— Chit Thet Le
