A total of 94 Chinese nationals who entered Myanmar illegally through border routes and com­mitted online gambling, online fraud, and other offenses in Kayin State, including Myawaddy, Shwe Kokko, KK Park, and Kyaukkhet have been repatriated to their respective country via the My­anmar–Thailand Friendship Bridge (No 2) with due regard to humanitarian considerations and friendly bilateral relations.

 

To ensure smooth and sys­tematic repatriation, authorities inspected the coordination pro­cess, verified the completeness of records and data, and provided guidance where necessary.

 

The repatriation ceremony was conducted with the partici­pation of officials from the Min­istry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Kayin State, Deputy Director U Myint Phone, rep­resentatives from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the Criminal Investigation Depart­ment, the Law Enforcement Police, led by Deputy Direc­tor-General Mr Chen Jian Feng, as well as officials from the Thai Immigration Bureau. Myanmar authorities formally handed over the repatriation documents to the respective countries’ officials in an orderly manner.

 

From 30 January to 20 Au­gust 2025, Myanmar identified and detained a total of 9,331 for­eign nationals who had entered the country illegally. Among them, 9,205 were repatriated to their countries per legal proce­dures via Thailand, while 126 re­main ready for repatriation and are being securely maintained.

 

The government contin­ues to actively investigate and take strong action against ille­gal online fraud operations. In particular, online gambling and financial fraud activities in My­anmar’s border areas are being investigated and addressed in collaboration with neighbouring countries and international or­ganizations, adopting a nation­al-level approach. — MNA/KZL
