The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has intensified efforts to combat the illegal trade of forest products through various strategies, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS).

According to reports from Forest Departments across Nay Pyi Taw, regions, and states, a total of 116.79 tons of illegal timber were seized between 15 and 21 September. The confiscated timber includes 13.99 tons of teak, 25.57 tons of hardwood, and 77.23 tons of other wood types.

In connection with these cases, four vehicles and machinery used in illegal logging were seized, and 12 individuals were arrested, according to the Forest Department.— MNA
