UNION Election Commission Chairman U Than Soe received Russian Federation Ambassador Mr Iskander Azizov yesterday morning at the guest hall of the Union Election Commission Of­fice in Nay Pyi Taw.

They held cordial and open discussions on arrangements for holding the election in phases, advance voting abroad, matters relating to political parties, on­going electoral processes, the electoral system to be adopted, the invitation of election obser­vation groups, candidate appli­cations, and measures to ensure that all eligible voters can cast their votes.

Members of the Union Elec­tion Commission and officials from the Commission Office also attended the meeting. — MNA/ KZL
