THE closing ceremony and research findings sharing session of the project “Improvement of Agriculture Trade Facilitation to Encourage Supply Chain of Myanmar’s Agriculture Products in Cooperation with LMC Countries” was held yesterday morning at the Jasmine Naypyitaw Hotel in the hotel zone of Nay Pyi Taw.
At the event, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi said that in line with the National Export Strategy to double export earnings, the project was designed to include trade facilitation processes and related activities, along with market research on the most promising export crops such as rice, maize, pigeon peas, green gram, watermelon, and fishery products. He expressed thanks to the People’s Republic of China, the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund, the Myanmar Mekong-Lancang Cooperation National Coordination Unit (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), relevant ministries, and the Embassy of China to Myanmar for their financial support and contributions.
Afterwards, the director-general of the lead department presented the objectives and research summary of the project. Deputy ministers then handed over research reports on the market competitiveness and export potential of rice, maize, pigeon peas, green gram, watermelon, and fishery products to responsible officials, who formally received them.
From 2017 to 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation has reportedly received approximately US$14.11 million from the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund to implement a total of 42 projects. — MNA/KZL
