Pakokku, 26 September

Four villages in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, were evacuated on 15 September due to riverbank erosion and landslides along the Irrawaddy River, in an effort to ensure the safety of local residents.

A total of 258 people from 65 households in Tenggat Village Tract, including Letpan Khon, Htnaeng Kone, Leya (East), and Leya (West) villages, were relocated to safer areas. Preparations are now underway to relocate their homes to more secure locations.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or loss of life among residents or livestock as a result of the erosion.— Bamitha (Pakokku)
