THE university students residing in Myeik, Taninthayi Region, who will attend the universities located outside the constituencies cast their early votes at the township election subcommission office yesterday.
“The township election subcommission arranged for the university and college students to be able to cast their advance votes yesterday morning. We invited the representatives of the parties. The early voting period will be from 17 to 21 November,” said the chairman of the township election subcommission.
The university students showed their enrollment documents from their universities and colleges to withdraw the advance ballot papers and cast votes for the candidates they prefer in the secret rooms. The Myeik District election subcommission chairman and officials inspected the voting process.
The UEC announced that the students who are away from their constituencies, the eligible voters who will be 18 years of age on 28 December, to cast a vote according to the law, may cast advance votes to ensure they do not lose their right to vote. They can cast early votes showing their citizenship scrutiny cards or student identity cards issued by their relevant universities, degree colleges and colleges at the registered ward or village-tract subcommissions before going to these institutions. — Khine Htoo (IPRD)/KTZH
