Several international airlines have canceled or rerouted flights in the Middle East after Iran fired missiles at two Iraqi military bases housing US forces.

Wednesday's attacks prompted the US Federal Aviation Administration to ban American carriers from flying over Iran or Iraq.

Many other airlines have followed suit. Air France-KLM and Lufthansa have suspended all flights through the region.

The situation is especially problematic for travelers from Southeast Asia, as Iran and Iraq are on the way to Europe. Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines are among carriers that have been forced to reroute regular flights.
