13 people were killed in a traffic accident on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Myochaung Town, Yangon Region this morning.

Members of the Highway Police Force from a nearby police station rushed to the scene of accident to assess the situation. A passenger bus bound for Yangon from Kawlin with 44 people aboard crashed into a concrete median strip and flipped over near mileposts 77/3 and 77/4 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway at about 6 a.m. today after the vehicle got a puncture.

13 people—8 men and 5 women—died on the spot in the incident. The injured people were admitted to a nearby public hospital in Myo Chaung. The driver has been charged with reckless driving by the highway police.—MFSD
