MYANMAR Rice Federation sold rice sacks without profit during the two-day Buy to Donate and Help Trade Fair held at Myanmar Expo Hall, Fortune Plaza in Thakayta Township, Yangon, on 8 and 9 April.

 

Myanmar Digital Economy Association (MDEA) hosted that fundraising trade fair at Fortune Plaza to provide humanitarian aid to earthquake victims. MRF offered non-profit sales with K1000,000 per sack of Ay­eyawady Pawsan rice (24 Pyi) (K4,200 per Pyi), K70,000 per sack of 90-day short-matured rice variety (K2,920 per Pyi) and K60,000 per sack of Aemahta rice (K2,500 per Pyi). Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) initiated K1.5 billion to help those suffering in disaster-stricken regions and contribute towards emergency rescue and resettlement activities in quake-hit areas. MRF will continue to support those affected by the earthquake with the contributions of affiliated associations, members and partners. Those who want to participate in volunteering or rescue equipment, rice and cash donation drives can contact the Myanmar Rice Federation which formed the MRF Operation AID (Action in Disaster) task force to help the victims suffering from the power and destructive earthquake on 28 March, MRF announced on 29 March.

 

This donation drive is to show the humanitarian as­sistance of the affiliated associations and those engaged in the rice industry. They are committed to providing staple food aids and conducting long-term resettlement and relief activities for those affected.

 

The task force aims to provide food and necessities to those staying in temporary shelters immediately, collaborate with regional and state governments, the Union of Myan­mar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, business institutions and philanthropic organizations, help conduct rescue activities at quake-hit areas with the help of volunteers and provide humanitarian assistance and support short-term and long-term relief activities. — NN/KK
